Does your bathroom work for you except for the bathtub nobody uses? And are you wondering what it would cost to turn that space into a shower?

That’s a good place to start. Our Bath Fitter Memphis team can replace the tub with a custom-fit acrylic shower without making the rest of the room part of the project. We’re part of the Mullikin family’s Bath Fitter franchise operation, which began in 2003.

You can explore a price range online first. When you’re ready, our team measures the bathroom, brings samples and explains the work in a written quote. The Bartlett project below gives you a real local example to look at before that conversation.

What does a Memphis-area conversion look like in a real bathroom?

This Bartlett, Tennessee project shows the original bathtub, the opened bathing area during demolition and the finished shower. It was completed by our Memphis team.

The finished photo shows a framed enclosure and wall-mounted storage alongside the rest of the room. That view helps you picture how a new shower can look beside the fixtures and finishes you plan to keep. Your own enclosure needs to work with the room outside the shower, including the space to get in and out.

What does a tub-to-shower conversion cost in Memphis?

Our franchise’s published 2026 planning range is about $8,500–$17,000 installed. It is a range across our franchise locations, rather than a Memphis-only average. It is also not the price of the Bartlett project.

Walls, glass and accessories affect the total. A curtain can save money compared with glass. A smooth wall finish may leave more room in the budget for a seat, grab bars or storage. Tell us what matters most and what you’d like to spend. We can explain the choices without starting with the most expensive design.

Our conversion pricing page explains the design examples and installed work. For the wider comparison with ready-made showers and custom tile, read our 2027 tub-to-shower conversion cost guide, which uses current 2026 prices to help you plan ahead.

What’s included when we replace the tub?

We remove and haul away the old materials, prepare the tub or shower area, and install the new base, acrylic walls and a new valve. We complete the plumbing connections, fit the enclosure and accessories in your quote, and clean up when the work is finished.

Repairs for water damage within the tub or shower area are included in our installation price. Structural work is referred to the appropriate specialist. Tell us about any known leaks or soft spots during the consultation so we can look at them with you.

Do you need a new shower or a whole new bathroom?

The Bartlett photos are useful because you can see the room around the bathing area. If you like the vanity, floor and layout, you may only need to replace the tub.

A new vanity, room-wide flooring, lighting and major layout changes are separate work. If another contractor is handling those, tell us early so we can discuss the order of the jobs. And if this is the only bathtub and someone still uses it, keeping a tub may make more sense. Our shower-versus-bathtub guide can help you think that through.

Which features will make your shower better to use?

Start with what bothers you about the tub today. If stepping over the side is becoming difficult, discuss the entry first. If cleaning is the problem, look at the wall surface and enclosure. Our one-piece acrylic wall wraps around the corners without grout lines on the wall surface to scrub. It still needs regular cleaning.

A seat, grab bars, a handheld shower and reachable storage can matter more than a finish upgrade. Plan their positions with us so they work with the wall system and how you’ll use the space. Our aging-in-place shower guide explains what to discuss.

How long will the work take?

Many conversions can be installed in as little as one day after measurement and product preparation. Some need more time. Bathroom conditions, custom bases and custom glass can affect the schedule.

Ask about the wait for the order, the installation visits and when you can use the shower. Those are different parts of the schedule. Our one-day installation guide explains what happens before the crew arrives and why some jobs take longer. Follow your installer’s instructions before turning on the water.

Who will do the work and help afterward?

Operations Manager Brandon Turner and Sales Manager Robby Yates help lead our Memphis team. Bath Fitter manufactures and ships the acrylic products; our franchise’s own installers put them in your bathroom. You have a local team to contact after installation. Meet the Memphis team.

Bath Fitter acrylic products have a lifetime warranty, subject to the written terms. Doors, fixtures and other components can have different coverage. See the warranty details for what applies to your project.

Our Memphis office serves as your local point of contact. Check the project ZIP before arranging a visit so the right team can help. You can find the serving-office details on our Memphis market page. See the serving-office details.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a tub-to-shower conversion cost in Memphis?

Our franchise’s published 2026 planning range is about $8,500–$17,000 installed. It covers projects across our locations, rather than a Memphis-only average. Your bathroom and selected walls, enclosure and accessories determine the written quote.

How do I know whether your Memphis team serves my address?

Use the project ZIP check before continuing with the estimate or consultation. Coverage depends on the address where the work will happen. A city name alone does not confirm every home.

How long does installation take?

Many conversions can be installed in as little as one day after measurement and product preparation. Some need more time, and custom glass may require another visit. We’ll explain the schedule and when the shower can be used.

Does installation include the valve, haul-away and wet-area repairs?

Yes. Our installation price includes a new valve, hauling away the old materials and repairs for water damage within the tub or shower area. Structural work is referred to the appropriate specialist.

Should I remove the only bathtub in my house?

Think about who uses it. If someone enjoys baths or you have young children who need a tub, keeping one may make more sense. We can discuss a replacement tub or an eligible custom-fit liner as alternatives.
