About Us

Before you let anyone into your home to tear out a bathtub, you probably want to know who they are. Who owns the company? Who’s actually going to show up? And what happens if something goes wrong five years from now?

Fair questions. Here are our answers, including the jobs we turn down.

Who are we?

The Mullikin family, owners of the Bath Fitter Fam franchise, in an outdoor family portrait
The Mullikin family.

In 2003, Louie Mullikin opened our first Bath Fitter office in Duncan, South Carolina, with one goal: give every customer an uncommon level of care and craftsmanship. He had a simple way of putting it, and it still runs the place:

“There’s an extremely low bar for customer service in the home improvement industry. The only thing you have to do to stand out is do what you told your customers you’re going to do.”

Louie Mullikin · Founder

That one office grew into six, serving seven markets. Today the next generation runs it. William, Andrew and Bailey Mullikin grew up hearing Dad say to take care of the customer, because at the end of the day nothing else matters. They still say it.

We’re part of Bath Fitter, a brand with more than 40 years in the business and over 2 million installations. Bath Fitter has more than 200 locations across North America. Ours is a family-owned franchise, so when you call us, you’re calling a local family business that happens to carry a name you already know.

What do we believe?

Our mission is to make people smile every time they see their bathroom. The way we get there is pretty old-fashioned: show up when we said we would, do the job right, and stand behind it.

Our team works by eight core values: pride, respect, trust, teamwork, resourcefulness, a positive attitude, a focus on the customer and a focus on results. In everyday terms, that means taking pride in the work, treating your home like it matters, and finishing what we start.

We don’t always get it right. Aaron Bishop, who runs our Columbia and Augusta teams, put it this way:

“We make mistakes, we own them, and we take care of our customers.”

Aaron Bishop · Operations Manager, Columbia and Augusta

Part of that is simple accountability. We live where we work. As Aaron says, “we’re gonna run into you again. It’s gonna be at Walmart. It’s gonna be at Food Lion.” That keeps you honest.

Who will actually be in your home?

People who work for us. Your design consultant, your installer and the technician who comes back for service are Bath Fitter Fam employees. We don’t hand your job to a subcontracted crew.

Our installers do one thing, every day: tubs and showers. Kell Chapman, who runs our installs across the Upstate and Western North Carolina, says that focus is the whole point:

“They don’t have to know how to do 15 different trades. They can do one really, really well.”

Behind each crew is an operations manager who reviews your job before install day. You can get to know two of them: Kell Chapman, a former cell-tower builder from Spartanburg, and Aaron Bishop, a Navy veteran from Lexington, South Carolina.

Why does it matter that Bath Fitter makes what we install?

Most companies in this business are dealers. They buy walls and bases from a manufacturer, then install them. That works, but it puts a middleman in the price, and it can leave you wondering who to call when something needs fixing.

Bath Fitter manufactures the acrylic tubs, walls and bases our crews install. The product is tested before it ships, it’s made to fit your bathroom, and the same company that sells it installs it, warranties it and services it. Every Bath Fitter tub and shower comes with a lifetime warranty, and if something doesn’t look right, there’s one number to call. That’s us.

What don’t we do?

Knowing this up front saves everybody time. We’ll tell you in your living room, before you sign anything:

  • Tile. If you want real tile or stone, hire a good tile setter. Our acrylic vs. tile guide can help you decide. If you love your tile and just need a new tub, we can often install the tub without a new wall system.
  • Whole-room gut remodels. Moving walls, widening doorways, new flooring throughout. We focus on the tub and shower area.
  • Doors, windows and gutters. We stick to bathrooms. That focus is a big part of why our installers are so good at it.
  • Lining a jetted or jacuzzi tub. Those can’t be covered with a liner. We can talk through replacing it with a new tub or a shower instead.
  • Walk-in tubs. We don’t install them. Our walk-in shower vs. bathtub guide explains the trade-offs.
  • Jobs where the plumbing can’t be brought up to standard. Sometimes a licensed plumber needs to go first. We’ll tell you, and we’re happy to come back after.

Where do we work?

Six offices, seven markets:

Addresses, phone numbers and hours for every office are on our Contact page. Not sure which team serves you? Check your service area.

How do we give back?

Through our Fit for Good program, we donate new bathtubs and showers to families in need, because a safe, comfortable place to bathe shouldn’t be out of reach for anybody. If you know someone who could use the help, you can nominate them by emailing fitforgood@bathfittersouth.com.

Questions people ask about us

Are you the same company as Bath Fitter corporate?

We’re a family-owned Bath Fitter franchise. Bath Fitter makes the products, and the Mullikin family’s local teams sell, install and service them in our seven markets. If you live somewhere else, find another Bath Fitter location.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. The people who install and service your bathroom are our employees.

How many bathrooms do you do?

Across our markets, our teams install somewhere around 50 to 60 bathrooms a week.

I bought a house that already has a Bath Fitter shower. Is it still covered?

It’s typically still covered. Give us a call with the address. You don’t need to dig up the original contract.

Do you work with businesses and property owners?

Yes. Along with homeowners, we work with businesses and property owners who want bathrooms that hold up and are easy to keep clean.

Are you hiring?

See our current openings, such as installer and sales consultant roles.

Can I see what my bathroom would cost before anyone comes out?

Yes. Our Instant Estimate gives you a price range in a few minutes, and our published pricing shows what typical projects cost.
