Want to replace the bathtub you step over every morning, but not redo the whole bathroom? And would it help to know the price before arranging a visit?
We get it. A shower should work for the way you live now. Our Bath Fitter Augusta team helps homeowners in Augusta, Evans, Grovetown and Martinez, plus Aiken and North Augusta, compare a custom-fit shower with keeping a bathtub. Our family has operated Bath Fitter franchises since 2003.
A conversion takes out the tub and puts a shower in that bathing area. We measure your bathroom, help you choose the walls and enclosure, and give you a written quote. If the tub still earns its place in your house, we can talk about a replacement tub instead.

What does a real Augusta conversion look like?
These photos follow one Augusta bathroom from the old bathtub through removal to the finished shower. It’s an actual project by our Augusta team, rather than a showroom example.
In the finished shower, wall-mounted grab bars and a handheld showerhead are practical details to talk through for your own design. The removal photo shows the stage before the new walls cover the bathing area again. That is when preparation matters, even though you won’t see it in the finished room.

What does a tub-to-shower conversion cost in Augusta?
Our franchise’s published 2026 planning range is about $8,500–$17,000 installed. This is our range across locations, rather than an Augusta-only average or the cost of the project pictured here.
Start with how you want to use the shower. A curtain and smooth walls keep the design simpler. Glass, decorative finishes or a seat can add to the total. You can choose where to spend more. If stepping in comfortably is the reason you’re calling, let’s work through the entry and support features before the wall pattern.
Our conversion pricing page explains the design examples and installed work. For the wider comparison with ready-made showers and custom tile, read our 2027 tub-to-shower conversion cost guide, which uses current 2026 prices to help you plan ahead.
What’s included when we replace the tub?
We remove and haul away the old materials, prepare the tub or shower area, and install the new base, acrylic walls and a new valve. We complete the plumbing connections, fit the enclosure and accessories in your quote, and clean up when the work is finished.
Repairs for water damage within the tub or shower area are included in our installation price. Structural work is referred to the appropriate specialist. Tell us about any known leaks or soft spots during the consultation so we can look at them with you.
Can you keep the rest of the bathroom?
Often, that’s the point. You may like the vanity and floor and simply want the tub gone. We focus on the tub or shower area, then plan how the new base and walls fit the room around it.
If you want to move the toilet, change the room layout or replace the flooring throughout, that is a larger remodel. Tell us which other work you’re considering so we can discuss how it fits together. If you want real tile or a fully custom room, a traditional remodeling contractor may be the better fit.
Which features will make your shower better to use?
Start with what bothers you about the tub today. If stepping over the side is becoming difficult, discuss the entry first. If cleaning is the problem, look at the wall surface and enclosure. Our one-piece acrylic wall wraps around the corners without grout lines on the wall surface to scrub. It still needs regular cleaning.
A seat, grab bars, a handheld shower and reachable storage can matter more than a finish upgrade. Plan their positions with us so they work with the wall system and how you’ll use the space. Our aging-in-place shower guide explains what to discuss.
How long will the work take?
Many conversions can be installed in as little as one day after measurement and product preparation. Some need more time. Bathroom conditions, custom bases and custom glass can affect the schedule.
Ask about the wait for the order, the installation visits and when you can use the shower. Those are different parts of the schedule. Our one-day installation guide explains what happens before the crew arrives and why some jobs take longer. Follow your installer’s instructions before turning on the water.
Who will do the work and help afterward?
Operations Manager Aaron Bishop and Sales Manager Cameron Young help lead our Columbia and Augusta team. Bath Fitter manufactures and ships the acrylic products; our franchise’s own installers put them in your bathroom. You have a local team to contact after installation. Meet the Augusta team.
Bath Fitter acrylic products have a lifetime warranty, subject to the written terms. Doors, fixtures and other components can have different coverage. See the warranty details for what applies to your project.
Our Augusta market is served from our office at 401 Huger Street in Columbia, South Carolina. Consultations take place in your home, so you can see the samples in the room you want to change. See the serving-office details.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a tub-to-shower conversion cost in Augusta?
Our franchise’s published 2026 planning range is about $8,500–$17,000 installed. It covers projects across our locations, rather than a Augusta-only average. Your bathroom and selected walls, enclosure and accessories determine the written quote.
How do I know whether your Augusta team serves my address?
Use the project ZIP check before continuing with the estimate or consultation. Coverage depends on the address where the work will happen. A city name alone does not confirm every home.
How long does installation take?
Many conversions can be installed in as little as one day after measurement and product preparation. Some need more time, and custom glass may require another visit. We’ll explain the schedule and when the shower can be used.
Does installation include the valve, haul-away and wet-area repairs?
Yes. Our installation price includes a new valve, hauling away the old materials and repairs for water damage within the tub or shower area. Structural work is referred to the appropriate specialist.
Should I remove the only bathtub in my house?
Think about who uses it. If someone enjoys baths or you have young children who need a tub, keeping one may make more sense. We can discuss a replacement tub or an eligible custom-fit liner as alternatives.
